The thesis diploma consists of an initial short essay on a pre-approved list of topics (or an individually selected topic approved by one’s tutor).

Following the successful completion of the short essay candidates shall submit a long (8,000 to 10,000 word) thesis on a subject selected from a pre-approved list or chosen by the candidate with the assistance of his/her tutor.

This guided research task is expected to be performed in conjunction with the candidate’s own research and experience, and should include references to the candidate’s actual ESL students and classes, as well as those of his/her peers.

The first 7 written assignments shall consist of:

Language Systems Theory (2500-3000 Words)

Course Planning, including a syllabus for a minimum of 40 hours, and a 2500 – 3000 word justification of the syllabus based on the learner’s wants, needs, ability levels, type of course, etc.

The comprehensive learner profile section shall be 5,000 – 6,000 words and shall include:

· Learner’s background, motivation and style

· Samples of the learner’s written English

The final examination shall be administered via email.
