Q: Can you give me a certificate based on my experience?
A:The Brewster TESOL Institute has recently been falsely accused of being a diploma or certificate mill. We resolutely state here that it is our firm policy that no certificates shall be issued by the Brewster TESOL Institute without the completion of the requisite coursework for any reason, nor have any ever been. An experienced teacher's experience will be manifest through his/her responses to our assignments, thus eliminating the need for any other experiential assessment.
Q: Why Brewster?
A: Brester TESOL Institute offers the highest quality and most complete online TESOL program at the lowest possible cost. We have also added an "Earn while you learn program, which guarantees job placement to our enrollees WHILE THEY CERTIFY! No other TESOL school, onsite or online, makes an offer that even comes close to this.
Q: How are course materials sent?
A: Course materials are sent via e-mail by either pasting, Word attachment or PDF. If you favor a particular format let us know and it will be our pleasure to accommodate you.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located in Indonesia (physical address available in contact details) where we conduct onsite TESOL training as well as our online courses. The benefit of this is that we maintain low operating costs versus courses located in exensive locations, with very little overhead, and we pass the savings on to you.
Q: How can I be sure of the legitimacy of this program and the safety of sending a payment?
A:We are registered with various payment services with a financial institution which is a subsidiary of the US government (Navy Federal Credit Union). Our course director is also registered with many of these services with his US social security number, which the above credit union can verify as being legitimate.
We now offer multiple payment options, many of which also offer consumer protection service, including buyer reimbursement claims in the event of fraudulent or undsatisfactory services. Please check each individual payment processor to learn moer about their individual policis and how they protect you as a consumer.
Q:Do I need to speak a foreign language to teach abroad?
A: Definitely not. Even begining foreign learners should be taught entirely in English for best results. You will learn how and why in our course. Most schools abroad also have bilingual support staff to assist you in matters of daily living in the country where you choose to work.
Q: Do I need to be an expert in Grammar to teach English to foreigners?
A: Most assuredly not. Many TESOL teachers arrive at their first jobs knowing absolutely nothing about grammar, and learn as they teach. We, however, ensure that our students have a solid foundation of grammar before graduating, coupled with the ability to reference grammar which they are unfamiliar with prior to teaching. Most new ESL teachers are, unfortunately, highly unfamiliar with grammar when they first start teaching. We, however, ensure that our graduates will have a marked advantage over these teachers.
Q: What is the difference between TESOL, TEFL, TESL, and ESL?
A: TESOL stands for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages , while TESL means teaching English as a second language, whereas TEFL means Teaching English as a Foreign Language. All of the above qualifications are equally valid. ESL refers to English as a Second Language, or ESL schools which specialize in teaching English to speakers of another language, while the previous three acronyms refer to teacher-training qualifications.
Q: Do I need to be a native speaker to enroll?
A: Not at all. While most TESOL instructors are native speakers, many non-native speakers enjoy successful TESOL careers. It is important, however, to have natural speech similar to a native speaker to successfully teach one's students to produce natural speech.
Q: Can I get a job with an online certificate?
A: Absolutely! We offer a 100% job placement guarantee.
Q: How can you guarantee job placement?
A: We work with the largest network of employers and free recruiters in the ESL industry. They recognize and respect our quality online certificates. We actively work with them on behalf of our students, as well as giving our students the best possible preparation, and offer a unit specifically dedicated to finding TESOL jobs.
Q: Do I need a teaching practicum to get a good job?
A: Most certainly not. Many of our teacher trainers, though now in possession of practicum-based teaching and training certificates from Cambridge, Trinity or other comparable institutions, started working for some of the best language schools in the world in the location of their dreams with distance learning certificates that, while widely recognized and respected, didn't offer nearly as much training as ours does. We do, however, offer several options for courses with onsite teaching practicums.
