Important Note for Asian, African, and Indian Sub-continent English speaking teachers – "We only want native English speakers from United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland".This is a quote from the Director of a Chinese English school.
Is this a BIG deal?
In China, just like the rest of the world, many people are racist. For an English teacher recruitment business this poses a great challenge. We have been trying for a long time to place Indian, African, Pakistani, Nigerian and Black South African English teachers into schools in China – the results mostly unsuccessful. This is a problem, particularly as we receive many inquiries from well qualified English speakers who are not passport holders of the above mentioned countries, who we know would make good English teachers. Fortunately we can cater foreign language experts from European Union countries and also Black Americans. Some of the employers become lenient and open minded enough to give a chance. To avoid embarrassment both to prospective applicants and ourselves we have put together this page to hopefully help you make sense of it and give some tips on how best to get around if you want to teach English in China regardless.
Those foreign language experts who are not native speakers of English language please refer to our "Non-Native Speakers section of our website.
